Dr. Woodson Assembly and Workshop
with UCLA’s Design for Sharing

Dr. Craig Woodson describes his long-term relationship with UCLA’s Design for Sharing program.


    Dr. Woodson will present 3-hour drumming classes throughout the year from October 2018 to July 2019. Please go to for details and updates. These sessions typically will include playing the drum set, drum circle facilitation, instrument making and portions of his world drumming Roots of Rhythm teacher's guide.

  3. Dr. Craig Woodson at Furry Elementary

    The Firelands Symphony Orchestra, through its educational outreach program, was able to bring a special guest to Furry Elementary. Dr. Craig Woodson of Ethnomusic, Inc. showed the students the wide variety of instruments that exist all over the world, and how they can make their own instruments from objects that they may have at home.


    Dr. Woodson's work for UNICEF and Playing for Change in Honduras and Ecuador, August 2016.

    In August 2016, Dr. Woodson was invited to bring drumming, drum circles and drum making to Honduras and Ecuador for UNICEF, arranged by Playing for Change, an international organization for building peace through music. His work in Honduras was with young people from broken families and in Ecuador he worked with Earthquake victims. In Honduras, his work was through the UNICEF Arts Center, COMVIDA. In Ecuador, Dr. Woodson worked with the well-known local Reggae band, Cocoa Roots seen in the videos. Below are videos about these projects.

Two FOUR-DAY Drumming Workshops for K-8 Teacher

Dr. Woodson will present two four-day, 26-hour DRUMMING workshops introducing several types of K-8 classroom TECHNIQUES to teachers and other interested adults.

  • Each of the four-day sessions will include drum set playing, djembe techniques, drum circle facilitation, instrument making and how to use his world drumming guide, Roots of Rhythm (RoR).
  • Each workshop will be different and tailored to the needs of attendees at each session.
  • These three workshops in June and July 2019 will be at his Ethnomusic Studio in Chagrin Falls, OH.
  • The cost is $495.00 for each workshop.
  • Two graduate credits are available for each workshop at $475.00 through Ashland University.
