1. Roots of Rhythm - World Drumming and Instrument Making (ROR)
- Play and make drums from Asia, Africa, the Middle East, Europe, and the Americas
- Use the free, online ROR teacher's guide to practice and teach world drumming and rhythms
- Teach cross-curricular elements including music, science, math, art, social studies, and language arts
- Workshop types: Introduction (RORI), graduate weeklong course in Levels I-II-III (ROR-1, -2, -3)
ROR workshops are either funded by PMC & NAMM or by Ethnomusic, Inc.
2. K-8 World Musical Instrument Making (WIM)
- Make up to 36 musical instruments from Asia, Africa, the Middle East, Europe, and the Americas
- Use all families of sound: drums, idiophones, strings and wind instruments
- Teach world music along with core academic subjects by making simple instruments
- Workshop types: Introduction (WIMI) and graduate weeklong course in Level I (WIM-1)
3. Drum Circles for Conflict Resolution (DCR)
- Play and ake drums for his approach to drum circles and the Remo Health Rhythms protocol
- Use Dr. Woodson's world music approach to conflict resolution called 'Ethnomusic Therapy'
- Teach therapeutic ways of resolving conflict through drum circles
- Workshop types: Introduction (DCRI) and graduate weeklong course in Level I (DCR-1)
4. African Drumming and Drum Making (ADM)
- Play and make simple instruments based on designs from Ghana and Guinea
- Use authentic drumming from Ghana and Guinea, West Africa
- Teach music, science, history, cultural awareness, art and language arts with this curriculum
- Workshop types: Introduction (ADMI) and graduate weeklong course in Level I (ADM-1)
5. Drum Circle Facilitation (DCF)
- Play and make the 5 standard percussion instruments used in drum circles
- Use basic facilitation techniques and activities for use in the K-8 classroom
- Teach drum circles to improve skills in K-8 classroom management
- Workshop types: Introduction (DCFI) and graduate weeklong course in Level I (DCF-1)
6. World Drumming Techniques (WDT)
- Play hand and stick rhythms with Dr. Woodson's creative approach
- Use authentic drums from varied world cultures including Africa, Asia, Middle East, Europe, Americas
- Learn how to improvise and to read a simple graphic notation system
- Workshop types: Introduction (WDTI) and graduate weeklong course in Level I (WDT-1)
